I liked it but did not help me with my morning highs.
you sould like you need a fast acting insulin when eating carbs.
and maybe a long actinig insulin for the rest of the time to help you stabilize.
discuss using drugs like Lantus for 24 hour support and perhaps Humalog, Novolog or Apidra for before meal treatments.

I hope this helps. Many insulins are available for use in a pen like the Byetta. they are very convenient and work pretty good. But they like many drugs can be expensive.

This sounds perfectly reasonable to me, but the problem is that I can't find a doctor who will treat me. I've been to two endocrinologists. Both have told me to simply avoid eating carbs. That's fine, but there are other implications-- like I have to eat frequently or I get really erratic/volatile, and I feel like there are going to be some negative long-term consequences if I don't get diagnosed and treated, even though I do monitor my diet closely (already have some neuropathy). Is this common, or have I just hit two bad doctors?

Actually I think I might have MODY1. My blood glucose pattern certainly fits, and I have the relevant family history (all undiagnosed because of normal fasting blood glucose, but with the long-term consequences of unregulated blood sugar). Unfortunately, I need a physician's order for this (genetic) test, which I don't seem likely to get at this point.
