   It finally happened. (Diabetes board)

2nd April 2008
So on Feb. 27 I finally got the "call" and on the 28th I had my pancreas transplant. I've had some ups and downs in the last 5 weeks, but things seem to be going well now (knock on wood). It's a truly amazing thing. I'm currently on a supportive dose of 8 lantus for the pancreas, and I don't bolus for anything. My fasting (now that the infection has cleared) is in the 90s and any other time it's well within normal limits. It really is a miracle. I'd appreciate everyone taking a moment to think of the family of the young man who was killed in a drive-by who made this possible.

I'm still sort of in a state of shock. I did wake up in the middle of one night wailing for my pump. LOL Then I remembered I didn't need it anymore. Feel free to ask lots of questions. I'm too excited to know where to start.

That is amazing! Not having to bolus must be very liberating :). Hope it all goes well, and keep us posted. ;)
