need of help drastically (Diabetes board)

19th April 2007
Hi It has been awhile since I have been here but I need some help . For the past 2 days I have felt like poop. I am so tired I can't hardly keep my eyes open I mean literally. I can not keep my eyes open. So this morning I decided to check my levels. This was 5 hours after I got up. I get up at 4:00 am every morning anyway I have not eaten anything yet or drank anything, my glucose level is 424. My face is all tingley and it feels like all I want to do is sleep. IF level does not go down I'm calling hubby home from work and going to the dr. I know level is way too high but is it dangerously high, I always heard that is in the 600's please I really need some help here. I am on insulin novolog 70 30 and lantus I am really despert here. thanks any imput would be greatly appreciated

My sister n law gave me a vial of novolog not the 70 30 and I took 20 units of that and my normal lantus which is what I was on to begin with and level droped down to 257 I know that is still high but it is better than the 424. I am going to dr. in the morning becaus at the injection sight of the lantus I hav a big knot poped up and it is very tender. IT is red too so I am just wondering if maybe I might be allergic to it. I mean it really hurt when I injected it. Not just the little burning it hurt and itched like crazy. So I am going back to dr tomorrow. as long as I can keep it below 300 I feel a little better but tomorrow will be the test. I am about afraid to take the lantus today . I have never had it hurt like that before.any ideas?

Any reading over 200 damages your organs. If maitained for awhile. That means eyes, pancrease, heart and all the vessels and veins that go to the heart. I would have gone to the ER right away their might be something else causing your high numbers. I take short acting humalog and lantus and I feel that is the best way to go.
