Thanks guys. You've all be so helpful.
flowergirl, I know exactly what you mean. They run into the examining room, take a quick peek, might even look at your most recent labs, then they either tell you you are crazy or throw some medication at you that's totally contraindicated for your other conditions and then run out. I didn't have a panic attack with the cortisone but he did fail to look at my allergy list in the chart to see that NO EPI was written in there and proceded to use epi in the anesthesia when he did the foot biopsy. Took me 3 days to get my heart rate back under control. The nurse asked me afterwards if I was ok cause I didn't look right. I told her I feel like I'd been given epi. She said oh, that's part of the anesthesia and then proceeded to inject kenalog into my deltoid. Got home and looked up kenalog and it says that it should never be injected into the deltoid, only the butt cause it causes atrophy. You know something? It does. He also told me this type of cortisone wouldn't mess with the sugar or the thyroid. Yeah, right. You'll have to excuse me. Everytime I look at or try to use my hands I get angry again. Walking's a lot of fun too. The flare should subside eventually and go back to it's original minor skin condition but it should have never happened in the first place.
flflowergirl, I know you ain't a doc. But sometimes I find the patients know a lot more than they do. ;) It does seem to fit the definition of anemia but the only one it does, if IDA is ruled out, is the one that covers production, transport or survival of rbc's. Thanks for laying the criteria out. The stuff I've been reading never lists it all together.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. I'll let you know.
