Best way to take meds (General Health board)

25th May 2005
I have a question about taking medication.
I went to the dentist yesterday and got an antibiotic called Keflex to kill an infection in my tooth so he can pull it friday.
What does anyone know about this med? Any side effects I need to watch for?

I can't swallow pills at all, they always get stuck and I choke.
These pills are the soft caplets where you can break them apart and there is a powder inside.
Is it just as effective to mix that with something, (the powder in the caplet)with something like pudding and take it that way than taking the pill whole?

The prescription information sheet the pharmacist gave me with the meds didn't say anything about not breaking the caplet so thats how I've been taking it.

Just wondering. I don't want to go to the dentist and the infection not be gone because I am doing something wrong by taking the way I am.

I am also terrified because I was told that if the infection isn't gone and they try to numb my tooth it won't numb and I will feel the whole thing.
Is that true?
