Anyone have sinus surgery? (Allergies board)

6th July 2005
I'm back! I didn't get home until after 2pm and I was too tired to post. So far things seem to be doing OK.

I had the left frontal sinuse cleaned out. I was a bit nauseated after surgery so they gave me another dose of Zofran and a patch for motion sickness. That helped a lot. I was really hungry and I had been told to eat lightly but I was too hungry. So around 4pm I had some Wendy's Chicken Strips and a Frostie. It tasted so good. No problems with that so far.

I am on Keflex antibiotics and was given Percocent for pain. So far I have not needed any pain meds, not even Tylenol. Didn't sleep very well but that's to be expected.

The bloody drainage has almost stopped. I started the nasal washes followed by mineral oil this morning. This helped get a lot of the goo out. No packing, thank goodness.

My ENT says on day 3 or 4 I will experience much more congestion and more pressure in my head. He says if the pressure (from the swelling) gets too bad he will give me a course of steroids. We shall see, but so far so good.

i had my surgery yesterday (septoplasty, and turbinate reduction)... surgery was around noon, and today i'm feeling okay... yesterday i was a little out of it from the anesthesia, but no nausea or dizziness... little pain so far, i've only used tylenol to help out with it, and i'm on keflex for antibiotics... i'm back to eating normal food today, and my packing will be removed tomorrow morning at 11... the packing kind of sucked at first, but you get used to it real quick... sleep was a bit uncomfortable but life goes on, it's only temporary... some jack johnson music is helping me through it all :)

today is day 3 for me, and i had the packing taken out from my nose this morning... that had to have been the most uncomfortable, disgusting feeling i've had my whole life... but well worth how i felt afterward. i could breathe rather freely at first, and i still can now but there's loads of crap in my nose/sinuses that will be cleared out over time with irrigating, but there isn't much bleeding at all now that the packing is gone, nor is there much pain... i'll be on keflex for the next week or so, hopefully that will prevent infection... i'll keep you guys posted on my experience...
