asc01,
This is an extremely hard medicine to get used to. I took it for over 2 years and stopped it, so that I could try Viagra. Now I want to start it back. I think I would rather have the extended release brand, one of which is Imdur. My drug coverage may not cover it though.
I can't remember anything but having a terrible headache and body aches for about 2 months. People kept telling me to just hang on and I did. Theoretically I think it is very good for the body. I have small vessel disease and I think this medicine is good for me, but I hate to start it.
It can cause problems with fluid retention, depending on your health and the other types of drugs you take with it. I don't think it ever bothered me. Of course I have plenty of edema, or fluid retention now. I use Lasix as needed.
I would say that since this medicine expands all of your arteries, large and small, the blood flow to certain areas of your brain has increased. Who is to say what this may temporarily cause psychologically?
Best of luck and health to you :)
