Hi TruthSeeker,
I am an angina sufferer and get various circulation-related problems. In particular I get numbness in my fingers and have noticed they turn quite pale (whitish or yellowish) when numb. Sometimes it's just one finger and often the same finger on the same hand (my LH index finger).
My feet too have problems - most often soreness of the soles and a feeling my toes and feet are very cold. Sometimes they feel cold but when I strip off my shoes and socks to warm them with my hands they feel okay - ie not cold at all. I never noticed these sorts of problems before I was diagnosed with angina.
I wonder whether the blood-pressure-lowering medication causes or at least contributes to my apparently poor circulation.
It all comes and goes a bit - some days I feel much better and on others I feel that my (peripheral) circulation is really falling apart.
I try to exercise a lot and to help my doctor suggested taking a slow-release nitrate like isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur). I have a packet here but have never taken them. The headaches are of course a well known side effect but apparently these improve with time. Good luck if you can keep it up.
My concern with the nitrates is whether or not I will develop a tolerance for them, and I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used such medication for say 6 months or more and then come off them (I know coming off them has to be gradual). The research I have read was mostly done long ago in the 80's and the results are not that clear.
Good luck with your angina - I would be interested to hear how well and in what way the Imdur has improved your condiiton.
