I have the understanding that they do not consider surgery at stage IIIB. Have you asked about a third line treatment,such as Iressa? Some have excellent results with this new drug. It is worth inquiring about. Read letters from the "About Iressa" board. Also contact the drug company for information. Good luck!

projapoti, it's not me but my mother-in-law who is ill. It is non-small cell cancer. Surgery was always the dr's hope but now they have said it's not an option since there is a spread to the mediastinum and they are talking to us about Iressa.
