Well here is my story:
I'm a 25 yr old female who had a very active childhood. I did everything from basketball, track and my #1 passion dance. At the age of 16 I had to quit dance because of an injured knee. But nothing was done at that point.
My first semester at college I ended up in the hospital 2 times in a 2 month period. The first time I had mono. Such a bad case that I had bruises all over my body. Had about 16 platelets left and my white and red blood count was down. The doctors thought I had leukemia and off I went to get a bone marrow bioposy. Luckily came back negative and was relased but on very strict terms.
Two months later ended back in the hospital with bilateral pneumonia. Boy was that fun.
A year or two later I fell and broke my tailbone.....could barely attend any of my classes.
Then I was in a little fender bender sitting at a stop light. It wasn't a bad impact but it was the way I was sitting when he hit me that really screwed me up and ended up going to the chiro a few times a week for about 4 weeks.
Two years later came down with genital herpes, thanks to my cheating ex boyfriend! Lucky for me I barely ever get breakouts. If I do it's very rare and only lasts for a day or two. So I'm lucky that way.
Later that year I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee...finally!
And here I am today with constant pain. Woke up on Nov 15, 2004 (remember the date exactly!) and could barely move. My back limited EVERYTHING I did. Went to the chiro, PT, PCP and was told that I had a lumbar strain. Got a brain, lumbar and cervical MRI, everything came back normal. Started having major brain farts was stuttering, walking around in a daze and then would forget what I was doing. Was snapping out on people and then I started to cry for no apparent reason. Tingling all down my extremities and then my left hand started to cramp up and would form these weird positions. People at the doctors was referring me as the "possible MS patient" which was scary. Have been tested for everything is what it seems and still I can't get a finally dx.
But the end result was that my PCP told me that I was "just one of those people". And dx me with FMS/CFS and sent me off to a rheumy. She on the other hand thought I was too young and was on my part, waste of my time.
Went to a headache clinic and was told that I had a low Serotonin level and people who have this are prone to IBS, anxiety, depression, insomnia, headaches, migraines and FMS. Well how about that! Fits me to a T.
So I take B2 vitamins and other multi vitamins, Cymbalta, Imitrex and Indocin and from time to time when it's really bad prednisone.
So I moved and now I am looking for new doctors. And we all know what fun that it!
I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing our experiences.
