I do take indocin, but I have arthritis also. My headache specialist said that there was something in indocin that also helps headache patients, but he didn't say anything like that when we tried vioxx. It could be that he wanted to see if there was a joint problem in your jaw contributing to your headache that the anti-inflammatory would help, but that doesn't happen very often, most jaw problems are muscular, not joint related. The other thing he could be exploring is neuralgia, in which case anti-inflammatories would help the headaches. That is more likely since your neck is still AND your jaw aches, both symptoms of neuralgia. Sometimes they do anti-inflammatory in conjunction with muscle relaxers for that. Does moist heat on the back of you neck help? What about ice on the area that is painful. It never hurts to get a second opinion, but I don't know that your doctor is that far out in left field either. If you want something for pain, ask for it. Although, if it's neuralgia, not a lot of pain meds work...I had to go to ultracet to get relief...I do better with no pain meds and using the ice and moist heat and reserving the ultracet for pain I cannot get rid of any other way. I hope you find relief soon!
