hi angie-I take ALOT of ibuprophen to stave off pain-I usually take(depending on the day) a 800mg dose once or twice a day I also take nortripyline every night-50mg- which puts me to sleep and that has made a world of difference it is an antianxiety and also for pain management and I also take zoloft-but I think I was put on that because of depression-not really sure though-all I know is out of any regimen I've been on this one helps the most for me-I've tried the narcotic pain relievers(vicodin) and indocin-which did good also-but this combination seems to work really well for me but everyone is different. Ialso take quinine for the restless leg syndrome which was a big help too. hope this helps-good luck! The Slayer

Hi:

Meds are problematic because of of my other medical conditions: I am not supposed to take Ibuprofen or indocin due to severe reflux (was on both for years), and I can't have nortiptiline or zoloft due to movement disorder (I've been on both. It was bad news: they cause me to have severe involuntary muscle movements. I am lucky in that I do not have restless leg syndrome. Vicodine helps a little bit for pain, but my doc doesn't believe in rx narcotics. Thanks for your suggestions though. I apreciate them,

Angie

hey angie-my doctor doesn't believe in rx narcotics either so good thing I'm able to tolerate the zoloft and nortriptyline! not being able to take ibuprofen either must be so hard for you. can you take any non steroidals? when I was going to my chiropracter when I was pregnant he gave me an herbal formula to treat the muscle spasms and even just getting readjusted helped alot too-alot of people who don't have back problems can still benefit greatly from chiropractic care-oh he also used to put me on an electronical stimulation thing that would help too-anyway I really hope you are able to something about the pain! take care

I am not sure what you mean by non-steroidals? celebrex, vioxx are all out because of contraindications id that is what you mean. The same goes for indocin, bextra, everything over the counter except tylenol, which doesn't work. I am uneasy about using anything herbal especially becasue I have epilepsy. And, truthfully, and I cannot afford to, nor would I trust a chiropractor. I am sure they help some people, it's just not for me. I really do appreciate your post though. I have had something along the lines of that elctro stim thing though at physical therapy before, so I know what you mean. We'll see what happens when i finally get my eval at the end of the month for PT, I guess. I appreciate your input,

Angie
