Quote from Greenteaeffect:I currently take tri-sprintec (generic Ortho Tri-Cyclen). I'm also taking Hydroxyzine (infrequently), Butalbital (I usually take one dose a day, but can take it up to every four hours if neccessary for pain), and Inderal (daily).
I was looking up Butalbital in my mother's drug book (she's an RN) and it says it can interact with oral contraceptives. Now I'm scared!
Do any of these prescriptions interact with the pill to the point where they will make it ineffective? Physical side effects are a concern, but not the main priority to me.
Does anybody know? I would definitely, although reluctantly, ditch the painkillers if neccessary, but I need to take the Inderal no matter what..
None of those pills will decrease the pills effectiveness. There have been reports of mentrual abnormalities when taking butalbital and birth control pills (including pregnancy), but it's very unlikely. It's not a major interaction like penicillins and birth control.
