Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts- I am 54 yrs old, diagnosed w/ type II diabetes 5 yrs ago-it is not weight related. Recently my sugar has been very high, so I've started taking insulin 70/30, along with Zocor and Furosemide. I suffered extreme edema (water weight gain) of 20lbs in one week. I was hospitalized, but most of my tests seemed normal, so they released me w/ a diuretic. Long story short (or not so short) I know take the same medications, Insulin N and R when needed. I've begun suffering hair loss, coming out in clumps. Has anyone experienced any hair loss in conjuction with insulin or these meds, and if so, is there a solution? Thanks for your help.

Hope you get your sugar under control real soon.

Your hair loss can be attributed to thyroid problems or an estrogen imbalance. Are you getting estrogen therapy or have you had it during menopause? Sometimes low estrogen can be the problem. I don't know if diabetes has anything to do with it.

It may or may not help bring your hair back but you might want to check out those two issues. You might google "symptoms of low thyroid" and the same for estrogen.
