Lithium (Bipolar Disorder board)

4th December 2003
Did your Doctor mention anything about the Lasix other than to take it as prescribed?
Here's part of the product information that you need to be aware of...
"Lithium generally should not be given with diuretics (Lasix - Furosemide) because they reduce lithium's renal clearance and add a high risk of lithium toxicity."
You should be having regular blood tests to make sure your lithium level stays in the safe range, don't let your self dehydrate out in the sun or too much exercise, drink PLENTY of liquids, that one is really important and most diets will say too, Drink PLENTY of liquids!!!

I always wonder if doctors really doublecheck for lithium cautions when they prescribe things!!
