Hi Scottie,
Bones which are subjected to trauma due to use, surgery or accident can deteriorate in time as aging depletes minerals and calcium.
Ask your doc about a Dexa Bone Scan to rule out osteoporosis which can be the reason for the worsening pain.
Meds like Pamindronate, alendronate, oral fosamax,
nasal calcitonin etc can rebuild the lost bone and
lessen the pain to the way it was long ago. http://www.drmirkin.com/archive/7074.html
Don't just suffer in silence because it won't get better without intervention.
