If you're speaking of a UTI (urinary tract infection), oh, yeah, I've had a few. I think they're pretty common, but they sure make you feel icky.
I had one last summer and was given Floxin, then a couple other antibiotics after, too, because it was a stubborn infection that just didn't want to clear up. My symptoms were flank pain, pain under my left rib cage and left upper abdominal pain. I was actually quite surprised when I was told a UTI, because it really felt like I had maybe pulled a muscle or twisted by body funny.
The ice/burning you feel could be the infection itself or the beginning of a yeast infection due to the antibiotics you're taking. If you do get a yeast infection, there are over-the-counter creams and suppositories you can try, or a phone call to the doc who prescribed the antibiotics could be in order, and he/she could phone in a prescription for Diflucan, which will clear up the yeast real quick. I find it best to wait until I'm almost finished or finished with antibiotics before dealing with the yeast infection, if I can hold out, since continuing on the antibiotics is going to create more yeast.
If you don't feel better in a few days, say by day five on antibiotics, give a call to the doc. Same if you finish the antibiotics and the symptoms return. Like I said, it took three rounds of different meds to clear mine up last year.
I've always been told they come from bacteria entering our plumbing down there. It can be fecal matter (gross, I know, but everything's pretty close to each other down there) or other bacteria. I'm real careful now. I actually wash my hands before and after using the restroom. I always urinate before and after sex (urine actually sanitizes things down there). If you use any toys in the bedroom, make sure they're really, really clean. I've also gotten into the habit of using those moist towelette wipes after a BM to hopefully avoid another infection. Always, always wipe from front to back, never back to front...even if you only tinkle and no BM.
Sure hope you get to feeling better soon!
