Options for treatment in addition to Hydrocortisone (Addison's Disease board)

18th September 2007
I can very much relate to your post. I have Addison's only after removing my adrenal glands to cure my Cushing's disease. Both feel awful but I cannot really recover from my cushing's state and I keep asking the doc - when will the belly, hump etc. go away? Like you, my cortisol readings are fine.
However, my DHEA-sulfate, testosterone, estrodiol, GH, PTH and other hormones were NOT fine.
Have you had other hormones tested? Sometimes a little DHEA helps to restore stamina. Too much and you will get acne and greasy skin. Also, are you on florinef? Are you maintaining hydration and sodium levels? I have found that all the hormones need to be in balance and for some odd reason, docs do not want to test. Heck, I was so low in Vitamin D... now I had to add that and he said it will be almost a year before I feel the benefits of that! Ferratin? Hormones make a lot of things go wackado!
