I just found this site today. My husband has been diagnosed with chronic Q-Fever. I believe he has been showing signs that were not diagnosed for a couple of years. Going back to the summer of 2005 he had a check up because he was having erection problems and the dr he saw at the time scared us to death thinking he had had a heart attack that we didn't know about. He had a heart cath that summer and the cardiologist said there was absolutely nothing wrong with his heart. He started taking cialis and it helped some, he continued to feel run down. He attributed it to his age and the life he has lead. (Hard physical work his whole life and he will be 50 this month.) Then around Nov. 2005 he would have flu like symptoms and spend all weekend in bed. (He worked a very physical job and refused to slow down at the time.) This went on and off until the end of April 2006. He also lived on caffine, nicotine and sugar (despite my requests and attempts to change it). He finally confessed to me that he was having trouble urinating. He went to the clinic at the company he works for and that dr refered him to a urologist. He went and saw him the first week of May. After tests the urologist put him on flomax. This helped for a few months. In the meantime the joint pain he had was getting worse and worse. Everytime I tried to get him to see a dr about it, he would tell me I earned every pain. Over the summer the pain got worse, the flu-like symptoms got worse and the trouble urinating started coming back despite the flowmax. By the end of July he was almost constantly running a fever of a 101 or more. Would take tylenol then with in 30 - 60 minutes be sweating profusely. Had horrible night sweats, trouble sleeping. Had an appointment with the urologist on Aug. 1 would not go to the dr before that. So told the urologist about all this. The night before the dr appt his fever was 102. The dr did urine sample for infection saw alittle on a dip test and gave him antibiotics and some other stuff upped the flowmax and said call him if his fever goes over 102.5. The next day he was admitted to the hospital for a week with a almost 103 fever that they could not get to stay down. Did a scope of his bladder and it is scarred and thicker than it should be and his prostrate is enlarged, but prostate cancer test is really low. He is to have a proceedure to kill off part of his prostrate, but can't be done until he is fever free and healthier. This was the beginning of a nightmare for us. I will start another post of the last 6 months. Thank you for listening.
