As you may know a man's prostate can swell and cause voiding problems but this is not normal for a hemorrhoid operation but anything is possible---
I would suggest that you contact a Urologist. There are medications like Flomax that relax the muscles of the prostate so he can void-- also they can ultrasound his bladder to see how much urine he is retaining??
