Hi Shelley,
Just went through the same questions you did about a week ago. A lot of it is in the "Update on My Search for Help." thread.
Anyway, I initially came here looking for info about Suboxin as well, and after reading through these boards, I determined that it wasn't for me. It is an opiate and if you take it for a while, you will need to detox off of it as well.
I went to an addiction specialist last Monday and got prescribed the Clonadine Patch (it's a blood pressure med) and it completely eliminated the sweats and chills that I absolutely got crushed by every time I tried to stop. The Doc also gave me Clonadine pills and Robinol Forte to supplement the patch if it wasn't strong enough. I also got a script for Dicyclomine which helps with the stomach cramping if that is a symptom you suffer from. A bunch of immodium, some non-addictive muscle relaxers (Flexeril or something), and a ******** of gatorade, and tomorrow, I will be a week removed from my last vicoden with as little pain and suffering as one could expect through a detox. I'm so glad I didn't use the Suboxin because right now, I'd be worrying about detoxing off of that.
Further, all of the drugs I just mentioned are used for things other than addiction, so the records won't come back to haunt you for things like life insurance.
Not sure if what I'm telling you could help in your specific situation, but if it's an option, I think you should look into it. Good luck.
