I am in the same boat as you. I Had back surgery for it and still have several other herniated disc's. I would ask your Dr what a good NON narcotic pain medicine is. I personally take plain old tylenoll, motrin or aleve. they all help me but not as good as good old vicadin. I do not take them together of coarse.

I also use muscle relaxer's for pain, they also are good. and when the back hurts, I rest, soak in my hot tub, and just take it easy.

try the " pain management" board off this site as well, they would also know.


good luck, Its a vicious cycle that I am wrapped up in as well. Everytime I slip or go off the wagon, its because my back pain returns and I can't handle the pain... However the past few times it has gone out, I have just delt with it and used OTC'S and muscle relaxerer's. have you ever tried " Robaxin" its a good one and it does not make you feel drowsy like flexeril does. that stuff wipes me out!
