Wow,
I was just prescribed that medication for adult ADHD? It does say it can be used for pain control also, I also suffer for nearly 30 years with complex Migraine Headaches and have tried many, many medications to control them or even to stop them all together. The only medication that I have found that even puts a dent in them is Fioricet. This med turned my 24-36 hours of stroke like symptoms to a 2-4 hour migraine. It does contain a barbituate, Caffine and Tylonol which are not a danger at all other than the Amitriptyline states it takes up to 4 weeks to even show any signs of working. I would continue looking for another medication since this med is prescribed more towards a mental disorders and my doctor stated that this med can cause death with a dose of 300mg. I was on 100mg a day.
This medication in my opinion is dangerous for a child and even for an adult because as being a medication for mental issues one could start having suicidal thoughts which, is not good with a med that can cause death with such a low accesible dose (6 pills in my case of 50mg each). I stoped taking this medicaion within a week due to I became very violent and easily angered and.....I almost struck my 79 yr old father-in-Law in a stupid argument. I regained my sences before that happened and called my pharmasist and he said stop taking it immediatly as I did and within 2 days the aggresive behavior stopped. As a note I did appologize to my Dad-in-Law an took him out for dinner for my innapropriate behavior. One should never even think of doing such a thing that I did even if it was the medication I still feel shameful to this day of my behavior.
But again my strong opinion is look for another medication for your daughter. I am no doctor but even an opinion can have some value.
