fioricet fear (Addiction & Recovery board)

17th December 2006
Hi nbug,

I have had 20 yrs. experience with this medicine. It is very effective for some people, but very easy to build a tolerance too. My advice is if you are needing to use this more than once a week, you could be setting yourself up for trouble.

I have found a over the counter remedy called gelstat migraine that has been very effective....which I use before going the fioricet route.

Hope this is of help.

Blessings,

Jack

Thank you so much Jack for your help. I will try Gelstat. I was born cross eyed and my eyes don't work together. Fuzzy picture anyway, yes? I was diagnosed with retinoschesis, severe dry eye, and migraines on top of my double, blurry vision. I'm 58. Migraines are very much heredity in my family but I don't want to just accept them either. Fioricet really helps me but the headaches are too many to always take it. Again, thank you. Just having you respond to my post helped me know I'm not alone.

Your very welcome, Nubug. I wish you the best. The gelstat has allowed me to cut my fioricet us by a good 80%. I still use on avg. 30 a month, which again, is acceptable to most docs.

Take care.

Hi Nbug, my ex has a huge problem with fioricet, he takes them like candy and then sits in a vegetation state on the couch all day.. they are very addictive, i took one once for a headache and it just made me tired but some people it makes high and u want and need more and more.. just be careful please, my best friend gets something called Relplax from her doctor for migraines and its non narcartic and non addictive and it works really good. Its exspensive because its so new there is not a generic yet but if u can get samples from your dr that could be an option for you. I wish u luck, migraines are awful i have had plenty of them:wave:

I came home with advil, gelstat migraine, and a humidifier. With the humidifier ablast last night I woke up without a headache. Thank God and thank you all for your advice. When I do have a migraine I will attack it with my new tools first before fioricet. WOW.
