I have been on birth control, Estrostep, continuously for almost 5 years. I have had the worst mood swings and things have gotten worse. I know that I have a lot of things going on right now, but I know the pills are the problem. My mood changes at the same time every month after the first color pills are gone. When I start taking the second color pils is when I lose it. My doctor gave me Yaz and she said it would help because it is only level of hormones. Has anyone switched from a low dose pill with three different levels of hormones to Yaz?? And if you have did you experience and weird side effects or did it help with mood swings? I'm asking this because I finally pushed my fiance away and we had an argument right when I started the second color of pills. I just want to know that I have something to look forward to as far as not having devestating mood swings.

First off, I've never been on Yaz so I can't comment on it. I have been on Estrostep before, though. Nightmare pill, IMO: depressed on my period every month like clockwork (wasn't like that before this pill), weight gain of 15 lbs., and major hair loss. Many do women respond better to monophasic pills (with the same level of hormones all month) rather than triphasic ones (three levels of hormones), though. I always did anyway. Every woman is different, though. However, the pill (even Yaz) does deplete many of the B vitamins, hence the moodiness. So, if you're going to still be on any pill, you should take a B complex vitamin every day. This should replenish what's been lost and help you feel better. It's a shame these pills wreck so many relationships. Hope you can patch things up with him. Good luck. :)
