I've taken Ovcon for about 4 years now -- its the exact same chemicals that are in Estrostep, only MUCH less of that form of progestin. Never had a problem with it. However, a year or so ago I started getting cysts and one of the things they tried to do to "help" was switch my BCP to Estrostep.
In two weeks I gained 11+ pounds, broke out, blood pressure went thru the roof and I had some wicked emotional side effects as well. Switched back to Ovcon (which I actually take for three months straight to suppress my period) at the time the "spots" started. They were a multitued of tiny pimples on my face and then neck. They went away after a few days then came back -- now on my neck and chest. They would last a day or two, dissappear and come back. I had the entire dermatology department stumped till they went to another dept (endocrinology I think it was) who sent a doc who took one look at me and asked if I had recently switched Birth Control. Apparently, I have an intolerance to higher levels of progestin (but the high level of estrogen is fine for me).
I would suggest talking to your doctor -- it may be that once you get used to the level of the hormones that it will all clear up -- as if its just a transitional thing. But maybe its something worth bringing up.
good luck!
