Quote from jdlfmc:When I went off the patch ans started the methadone, I really wasn't weaned of the day I took my patch off I then began taking the methadone and I take percocet for the BT. I didn't have any problems comming off the patch at all, it may have to do with the fact that methadone was the pain med the dr put me on and this is what they use for drug withdrawl, I really don't know just a thought, but as I said I have been on oxycontin and the patch and I prefer the methadone I also haven't had any side effects with this, I have heard off others that have but I started low and gradually increased.

Hiya Linda,
I am on the patch also (Sandoz generic) and I use Methadone for b/t cuz it's cheap. Both are LA meds, but I don't like the Methadone so much, and haven't been using so much this past month. I don't like how it makes me feel and it doesn't really help the pain. It feels like it's "riding on top of the pain". I know, it doesn't make sense! LOL I didn't like oxycontin either, it really made me feel wierd. So I'm going to ask my PM doc can recommend something else for b/t pain that is cheap. I was on Percocet, but it was not helping so much after using it for over 2 years, and my insurance company changed, so I used to pay $10 for generic Percocet, but with the change of insurance companies my copay shot up to $43 for generic Percocet (Endocet)! YIKES!
I also don't think that the medicine in the generic Duragesic patch is quite as potent as the name brand and I'm going to ask my PM doc if any one else has noticed this also.
I see him tomorrow. My favorite guy! LOL
TTFN and it's nice to see you again. I hope you are having a good day.
