THe curse of dental allergies (Allergies board)

22nd July 2008
I've been having this tingling burning feeling in my bottom rightish side of my mouth. For well over 2 months, I got a dental filling for the first time in years after my previous burning experience. A few months later I developed some dermatitis/somewhat ezcema looking, I got antibiotics and some elidel.. SLowly the irritation got worse, until going on vacation and the burning feeling got quite intense. 2 and a half years ago I had a similar experience.

last thursday I mentioned the irritation and how I was concerned about allergies,to the dental assistant a sign of allergys Next thing you know she stuck 2 q-tips for numbing gel in, I mentioned the swollen salivary glands on the bottom of my lip,to the dentist with the q-tips in there.. I was far from assertive enough.. The dentist stuck in the needles and put 2 more fillings in.. now the left side of my mouth is feeling much worse my upper left area looks swollen and small red mark is appearing(where my upper molar was filled) The dermatitis signifcantly worse on the left side compared to last week. It's now worse looking then the right fpart when things used to be the opposite.

Earlier today I go in with my mom and the denstist does a fairly length checkup and says he doesn't think its the dental material. I've got swollen salivary glands all along the bottom of my mouth which are an allergic response. This may sound emo but I'd rather die then feel the way I do, the dermatitis looks horrible and I'm self concious to begin with, not to mention all the irritation I've been feeling which is the worst part. He tells me he doesn't think its a dental allergy and sends me on my merry way. I know he meant good and doesn't want to think he did any harm but still, sometimes u gotta be forcefull.
At this point I'm just going to call and tell him I want them out, even if he doesn't think their an issue, even though I know it's just about the only possibility left.

I screwed up big time by letting him put the 2 other fillings so now I've got 3 that have to be removed with big holes in my mouth, hopefulyl I can make due anything is better then feeling the way I do...
I might just lie and say I talked to my allergist and he says to get them removed maybe call the ENT for real..
