I need solutions for my inner ear problem (Inner Ear Disorders board)

7th March 2006
Symptoms:
I have had dizziness which I would characterize as a constatnt unsteadiness for over a year. When I stand, my body has a tendency to want to rock back and forth, like it doesn't feel comfortable standing. It helps to hold on to something to stabilize the imbalance. When I walk it feels like I am taking false steps and when I stop in place, it takes time for my body to adjust. When I am trying to watch a lecture, I can feel my head going back and forth like it can't lock in or focus on what is in front of me. Throughout the day it gets worse as my walking increases. The most annoying thing for my wife is that I am constatntly trying to clear the back of my throat, and make my ears pop because they feel so full. Do any of you have this ear fullness that feels like you want to blow it out?
Specialists visited:
First ENT: Ordered CT; nothing there. States it is probably allergies.
Second ENT: Ordered another CT (yay for radiation). Nothing there; believes it might be anxiety.
Neurootologist:Performed a series of tests. ENG was normal but "platform " test was below average. He believes it is a early form of Meniere's disease.
He put me on dyazide and clorazapate, a bdz.
He stated that if this did not work you could try the Meniett device, which puts pressure on your inner ear.
Please help me with these symptoms and tell me a wise step-up approach to beating this thing. Is this meniere's? The bdz and diuretic are working a little, but the recovery is slower than a snail. Is this meniett device worth anything, and what about the possibility of "burnout"?
