Help mystery illness!!! (General Health board)

10th January 2008
wondering if anyone has ever had this problem.... My 14 yr old daughter has had fatique and just doesn't feel good with minor headaches, since the day after christmas. She is very athletic and now can't even hold up to do any activities.

Had several lab tests and has been on doxycycline just in case she has a virus from a tick. (doc says sounds so much like mono) Mono, Lyme, thyroid,Sugar, are all negative.
Cat scan shows chronic sinusitis in the sphenoid sinus, but when we went to ENT. He said after looking at labs and films , just don't feel like that is significant enough to cause symptoms.

Now we are waiting on appt. with Neuro.

She crys and says Mommy something is wrong with me and I can't do anything to help her. Her family doc says she may have to homebound schooling until we find out whats wrong or until she gets better.

SO FRUSTRATED.... she is a straight a student and one of the top players on the varsity basketball team. Just wondering if anyone has had or heard of having these symptoms.

Sometimes mono is not completely diagnosed until it hangs around for a while. The antibodies may not become detectable until the second or third weeks of the illness. It looks like you got her to the Doctor early and since they have now a baseline of blood work maybe you could ask them to follow up with another blood panel, that could show more.
