Hi,
My Nan is 85 years old and was diagnosed one month ago as having MRSA. She had a sputum test done and it came out positive twice for MRSA. She was given Doxycycline for MRSA but only enough pills to last 4-5 days.
Anyway, she keeps having re-occuring chest infections where she is very wheezy, coughing up green phlegm or just a harsh cough.
But the last 3 days her symptoms have gotten worse. She has another chest infection (last one she had one week ago), but keeps experiencing hot sweats and dizzy spells and she is also having bad hip pain and findind it difficult to move around with her hip.
Earlier she nearly passed out but I caught her in time and made her lay down. Im watching her now so I can keep a eye on her and she is fast asleep. She keeps sleeping a lot too and has tiny blisters in between her eyebrows and some more have popped up since she became ill again.
I dont know what to do. Im worried about her. She wont go hospital and doctor wont help. All they do is give her antibiotics (she is already on these now) and MRSA is resistant to this so chance it is going to work is unlikely. She is old and I hate seeing her like this.
What should I do? My GP is truly useless and will not do any tests or anything to help my Nan. I think if I take her hospital she will be get better treatment but she wont go and hates the place and will definitely not stay in.
Could the re-occuring chest infections be caused by Pnuemonia? How will I know if MRSA has spread to her blood? Im positive she still has it.
