I know what you are going through. When that beating starts (it seems like when it's so quiet), that you just think, oh no, here we go again. Mine is a matter of a very slow pulse. Sometimes the heartbeats can be felt in my head, and I get up and take bp and pulse, bp is fine 120/65, but pulse might be 33 and totally irregular. Gets me crazy. According to my doctor (cardio), he says manually it feels very slow but ekg says it is more like 62 (apparently some very weak beats in between). But at night, when you feel every beat, it is enough to drive you crazy. Cardio wants to do nothing, but I feel like bp meds could be cut down (verapamil and diovan), but he says wait six months and we'll see (what, to see if I am still alive?). Sorry you are going through this at a good time of your life - retired and growing old gracefully. I have been retired for about 10 years (76 years young), but still feel like I am in my 60's except for this pulse and heartbeat thing. Keep us posted - hope you find out what's happening - wish I could. Hope I am not a candidate for a pacemaker or something. Best wishes to you.
