drs,
Thanks for your time.
My husband has hep-C, genotype 1b. He's already done the riba/interferon combo route (not the peg.), but was a non-responder. I guess that was about a year ago. His gastro has said he doesn't think the peg. combo will work any better for him.
Anyway, he has a whole list of problems, besides the hep-c! About 25 years ago he hit his head at a construction site and ended up with a subderal hematoma. They thought he would never walk again. He managed to outsmart the doctors though! His only problem with that now is seizures, which are controlled by dilantin and a new drug out called keppra ( I call it the miracle drug, since the dilantin wasn't 100% effective!) He also has arthritis in his knees and in fact had a total knee replacement a couple of years ago in his right knee.
But, he is very thin, so he doesn't worry about the weight factor. His blood pressure is great - don't know about his cholesterol. He had his last liver biopsy in February - stage 2 grade 2 - which is no change from about 3 years ago. That's one good thing!
He's currently following Dr. Berkson's protocol - which doesn't get rid of the virus, but makes one's quality of life much improved.
He takes 1000mg Vitamin C x 2 (twice a day)
200mcg selenium x 2
400 iu Vitamin E x 2
600mg Calcium/vit.D x 2
250mg magnesium x 2
300mg alpha lipoic acid x 2
500mg carnitine x 2
450mg milk thistle x 2
75mg Co-enzyme Q10 x 1
1 multi-vitamin without iron
1 B100 complex vitamin
Hope this gives you enough info on him. Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks for your time.
