Well the combo that has finally worked for me is differin cream, klaron lotion, desogen birth control pills, and spironolactone. I have very sensitive skin so it has taken me a long time to find a gentle but effective combo :)
As far as what I've hated... anything with benzoyl peroxide. Found out I'm allergic and that was not fun :) I also had bad reactions to Azelex (even though that is supposed to be gentler?) and regular Retin-A.
