My grandson has now been put on depakote er. I can find not info on the use of Depakote er for addhd. His behavior has become very physically aggressive but the doctor wishes to keep him on this med. She feels his "depression" should be controlled first then she will handle his addhd. I am not at all sure that the "depression" he is having isn't from his inability to concentrate because of his addhd , which is the ring of fire addhd. He is also having side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, neck and back pain, stomach pain just to name a few. He has been on this med for 5 days now with no real improvement and a lot of negatives.
He was also put on Focalin 1 day later because the Depakote er was not helping his his frustration from the addhd and ability to concentrate. He had neuromuscular tics and twitching. He has now been taken off of the focalin.
I would really appreciate any help anyone can give. This doctor is now telling my daughter that she should consider putting him in a residental situation.
