Hello,
I am also a bunion newby. I have been looking at this webpage for a few weeks since I had been thinking of having surgery done and found it helpful to see what others have experienced. I had my bunion correction surgery this morning. So far so good, not really any pain, just a little tingly. I think the numbing in the ankle block is wearing off though, but I am careful to keep up on the pain med every 4 hours, I am taking Darvocet-N 100.
I couldn't believe how much I worried about what it would be like to get it done. I thought for sure I would have spent this day sleeping since I was sure I was going to be put under general anastesia(sp?), but instead they just put me under sedation, but I was still asleep though the whole procedure and just felt like I had gotten a good night's sleep, not groggy at all! I haven't really felt sleepy the rest of the day, even though all am doing is sittinig all the way back in a recliner chair, just elevating my foot (hoping that the pain will stay away). Gotta keep it elevated for 48 hours, then I guess I will continue to try to master walking with the cruches. I hope I will be lucky and continue to do well.
Good luck to all,
Amanda
