 I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and adrenal fatigue (diagnosed by four separate saliva tests throughout the day. I take a total daily dose of 19.75mg of cortef. I take four daily divided doses totalling 19.75. I also take cytomel and a dessicated thyroid called nature thyroid. My doc tells me my Ft4 and Ft3 now fall in the mid-range of normal. However, as hard as I try, I am unable to loose weight. In fact, when I first went on the cortef, I gained alot of weight. Later, I was told I had Hashi, and went on thyroid. However, I still can't loose much weight. If I raise my nature thyroid more than the present dose, I experience an increase in my blood pressure, pulse rate, and my hair loss...however, I am able to loose weight, and feel better. When I first went on the cortef alone, my blood pressure started to rise. Before this, I never had high blood pressure. My doc says he doesn't know why I put on weight, and can't loose it. He thinks I should have a fairly easy time of loosing weight. In any case, I would appreciate someone telling me what they think maybe going on with me, and what I can do about it.
