Zocor Side Effects (Blood and Blood Vessel board)

17th June 2007
Just wondering if anyone who took Zocor to control cholesteral had this happen to them.
I was put on Zocor because my insurance wouldn't pay for me to take Lipitor. I had been taking Lipitor maybe three years. At first I didn't notice anything specific, but my friends began to notice that I would be talking then stop in mid conversation as if I forgot what I was thinking. After awhile I began to notice it myself. My mind would go blank as to what I was talking about. As I recall I had been taking Zocor for about three months. I looked at the side effects listed on the prescription and nothing like this was listed.
Finally I had enough and went to the dr. and told her what was happening. She looked at me kind of dumb-founded. She switched me to Zetia. In the meantime she was going to see if I could be put back on Lipitor because she said that I responsed well while on it.
Well neededless to say, insurance still wouldn't pay for it. I even got a letter from a dr. in Minnesota, I live in Kentucky, saying that he recommended that I take either Crestor or Vytorin. All I could do when I read this was to laugh and use a few choice words. I have heard some interesting effects of Crestor at the time and I do believe that Vytorin has Zocor in it. So much for my side effects. I feel like they were TOTALLY IGNORED me. As it has worked out taking Zetia has worked well for me with no side effects.
Anyone else have this effect while on Zocor or an effect that wasn't listed? Even better, anyone receive a letter from a dr. they've never met, tell you what you should do.
