Too young to take coreg? (Heart Disorders board)

24th February 2008
Coreg is known to make you feel really goofy for about a month :) I doubled my dose about 2 weeks ago to 20 mg/day, and I am still adjusting to it. I take the Coreg CR (controlled release) and it is probably much better. I still am very wobbly like a drunk, lol.

You can never stop a beta blocker which is what Coreg is, abruptly after your system has become accustomed to it, because it can cause a heart attack or stroke. You have only been taking it for a week, so it won't be hard to ween yourself off of it BUT only under your doctor's instructions!

[QUOTE=littlemiracle;3456038] I went to the cardiologist and wore a holter for 24 hours, he then sent me coreg, half of the 6.25 pill.

What were the Holter results? There should be a summary sheet that gives you a summary of all of the mis-beatings of your heart. You might ask the cardiologist for a copy of the Holter summary, including his diagnosis. Then, if you want to, you can ask others about the Holter results, including fellow heart patients here on HBs.

Obviously something showed up on the Holter which justified your cardiologist trying out a heart medication (Beta Blocker) on you.
