Hi there Betty! :)
I have had asthma for a while... with Advair it can seem like you aren't getting anything, it is such a small ammount of powder, but you will notice the changes pretty soon.
I have run the gambit with combivent, flovent, serevent, albuterol, and advair and tried singulair for a bit, it can take some time to find the right combination for controlling your asthma but when it does... it is all worth it!
I have a few questions though... do you have a peak flow meter and know your peak flow?
It is important to monitor your peak breathing rates, asthma can get worse suddenly... and can get progressively worse over time, and both have to be watched.
Your doctor can explain the use of the peak flow meter, though it is very simple to use.
Remember, if you think you are having an asthma attack, you probably are... don't play around with it, get help immediatly.
As for thrush... ( shudders ) if you think you might be getting it and can tollerate milk products, get some yogurt with active yogurt culture and use that until you can get to the doc for a prescription for meds. There are some new 'smoothie' styles on the market that you can get, just swish that around and swallow it until you can get to the doc... it will help with the thrush a little and will keep it from getting bad. Also, sterilize your toothbrush after each use if you think you might be developing thrush and replace it often. (you can use a steam sterilizer or just soak it in Listerine)
Good luck :)
