   Xolair (Asthma board)

Quote from hc85:
What do you mean you're sick one to four days per week?

By that I mean that I have asthma symptoms every week that last from one to four days, which include: interrupted sleep, difficulty breathing, extreme fatigue, inability to concentrate, lethargy, depression.

I am compliant with medicines: Advair, Flovent, Singulair, Uniphyl, Combivent, Albuterol. I've had skin testing and repeat skin testing. I do allergy shots once per month now and having been doing this faithfully for 13 years.

My last anaphylatic attack was about two years go, and I went straight to the doctor's office and was given neb treatment.

My asthma is definitely not as severe as yours; however, that said, I can't plan social events or accept invitations for future get togethers because I am, as I said, ill 40-50% of the week. I have an accommodation under ADA that permits me to come to work as late as 10:00 a.m. since my asthma mostly occurs at night. I use albuterol most every day; definitely five or six times per week. I am able to work because when I am ill, my psychiatrist has prescribed sleeping medication and this permits me to handle my job responsibilities while missing only one or two days of work per month. I have plenty of sick time on the books so I'm not in danger of losing my job.

I would like to have a fuller life. Good friends understand and stick by me. Others have wandered away. I am seeing a pulmonologist and he regrets that he has been unable to help me.
