Just had my tonsils removed.. (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

2nd August 2006
Ooooh! I just thought of something that helped me with the cravings. Yes, for a short time between the appetite-reducing pain of the surgery, and the appetite-reducing pain of the post-sugery-pain (after the morphine wore off), I actually WANTED to eat! :p What I would do was let the food sit in my mouth (still nothing really scratchy though, so maybe like a donut or something), get all the flavor off, and then spit it out. I know, it's gross, but when food was sitting right next to me and I just wanted to TASTE it (but knew that I couldn't swallow it), it worked for me! Then again, you may be tempted to just eat it, if it's already in your mouth. For me personally, the pain of the first swallow was enough to deter me from doing that. :D

Also, I know that they prescribe pain medication (I got liquid Tylenol w/ Codeine... not that it did much because I had an allergic reaction to the Codeine), so maybe you could call up your doctor (or have someone else do it), tell him/her what a tough time you're having, and ask if they'll call something in.

Anyway, how are you feeling today??? Any better? I remember hitting a point where I just kept getting better and better! Hopefully you'll be there soon!

***Oh, and to the other people on this thread who've already had this an recovered, just out of curiosity, why did you have the surgery and did it give you any results? For me, I had it for chronic sinus infections, but due to the fact that there was nothing wrong with my tonsils and adenoids in the first place (which makes me wonder why the doctors ever wanted to remove them...), I haven't noticed much of a difference health-wise.
