I recently posted this on the All Health Topics forum:

Since that post things have been getting worse. Late last week my girlfriend came down with a bad cough/blocked nose and this has made her feel generally worse with nothing seeming to help. The pain in her arms and back is much worse, to the point where she is taking codeine tablets 3 times a day to make the pain ease a little.
Now, she has an appointment at the doctors this afternoon to find out the results of some blood test she had taken last week, so we should find out if they've spotted anything. However, the interesting thing is that she went to see her Chiropracter on Friday and explained the problems to him. He did some tests (moving her limbs about, applying pressure etc) and came to the conclusion that she has a problem with her blood sugar levels and that this may be caused by her Adrenal glands not working properly.
From research on the internet, it does seem like this could explain most, if not all, of her symptoms (see other post) - in particular the fatigue and muscle pain (which he said could be caused by over exertion due to lack of energy caused by the blood sugar problem). Now, the only 'condition' that seems to be linked to Adrenal problems is Addisons, but her symptoms don't match exactly with this condition - no skin discolouration or weight loss. Is it possible to just have a problem with the Adrenal gland for no reason? How can this be sorted out?
The Chiropracter also said that this may not be something the doctor will acknowledge or be prepared to treat (no idea why though?) so if this does happen then we're a bit stuck on where to go from here? Personally I think the whole thing could be linked to stress, mainly caused by her physical job. If the doctor gives any indication that this could be true, she is going to speak to her parents (who run the company she works for) and try to cut down on her hours, possibly getting part time work elsewhere. Is this likely to help? She got really depressed over the weekend because she felt so lousy and just can't see things getting any better! I tried to be positive and said hopefully the doctor will sort it out (isn't it their job?!) but in the past all they've said is that it's just stress and to do some relaxation exercises, but this is just rubbish because clearly there IS a problem now. Whether it was originally caused by stress is irrelevant if they won't acknowledge the problem and treat it. I'm worried the blood tests won't show anything and they'll just send her away 'empty handed' so to speak.
Basically I'm trying to get some opinion on where to go, if the doctor won't help, from here?
