I have read a published study regarding dental pain that said that Tylenol 3 (tylenol with codeine) is no more effective at treating dental pain than Advil alone. I have read that taking tylenol and advil together is more effective than either alone, although my Dr and Dentist usually suggest that I take advil before any treatment and then switch between tylenol and advil every two to three hours after.
I have read no study that claims that tylenol with advil is as effective as percocet, which is a stronger pain killer. If the tylenol and advil is not working call your dentist and let him know. You have a right to expect adequate pain control.
