mrr- i had what would probably be called mild to moderate acne. in my teens i had the usual 1-3 regular pimples at any given time, i'm a girl so i had the monthly thing of course, then my skin miraculously cleared up from 19-21, but when i turned 22 i got actual acne all over my face, not cystic, just lots of it, it was horrible so i went to the derm, got on oral antibiotics and cleocin and was clear until i got pregnant at 25, then i couldn't use that stuff anymore. went back on the antibiotics and cleocin, tried to get off of it, tried otc stuff, proactive, murad and different types of supplements, nothing worked. i'm 30 now and really just want to get off the antibiotics once and for all, the acne has been steadily getting worse in '04, but still was just a few nice, juicy pimples, nothing like what i've experienced this last week! i was crying in the derm's office yesterday and refused to leave the house all last week! not cute, not fun and quite painful really. and it's all concentrated on my jaw and chin, so gross! but it's getting better, although still all purple and discolored and flaky too. but our real challenge is to just get through this. i don't know if the dosage has anything to do with it, to be honest, i "flared" at 20mg/day, had to take prednisone, then "flared" again at 60mg/day. now i'm on 15mg/day of prednisone for 3 days, then 10mg for 3 days, then 5mg/day until i run out, also cipro 2x/day for 7 days and back down to 20mg/day of accutane at least until next week when i go back yet again to the derm's office! wee! what an adventure, eh? did you think that it was going to be like this?
