Cured person checking back in.
Got sick May 2004, severe hip pain, fatigue, fuzzy-headedness, had a huge red spot on my back, which grew to cover my entire back.
Diagnosed in August 2004, with a CDC-positive Lyme test (a small miracle in itself as I later learned)
Was treated twice with the usual 200mg Doxycycline for 3 weeks, not much effect. Was basically told that Lyme's was hard to get rid of, and that I'd have to live with it. Couldn't find anyone else to treat me.
I lingered until Nov 2006; I'd get a little better, go back to work, get sicker and relapse, have to quit job. Back and forth.
Finally found a doc in Nov 06; he started me on Minocycline, Benicar, and Vitamin-D3(2000IU/day). I had a bad reaction to the Minocycline, so we switched to Cefzil. I was on 500mg Cefzil 2x/day. He also started me up on Benicar, initially 30mg/day, later upped to 80mg/day.
After 2 months, we added 500mg/day Tindamax, and upped the Vitamin-D3 to 4000IU a day.
After 8 months of all 3 drugs, we believe I'm cured, and stopped abx (August 2007). As of this date, I still am symptom free, though I have some minor and probably not Lyme-related issues still going on (developed food allergies while having Lyme's due to probable intestinal inflammation).
