VERY nervous about BONE SCAN!!! (Back Problems board)

1st March 2006
 Hey everyone! To cut right to the chase, I just got back from a spine specialist today and he's sending me for a bone scan. Apparently he thinks that I may have had a fractured vertebrae in my neck that they missed originally. He also said that I had the tightest traps he had ever felt (which kind of freaked me out)! He said that I'll probably need botox injections in my neck as well to release some of the pressure. Anyway, I'm extremely nervous about the bone scan. So nervous (about the injection), in fact, that I may cancel it. I'm allergic to so many things that I can't even begin to name them all, but here are a few that come to mind:

-Shellfish (EXTREMELY allergic)
-Diet soda
-All fruit (especially citrus fruits, apples, bananas, and watermelon)
-Cefzil
-Singulair
-Oxycodone (Percocet)
-Tylenol #3
-All codeine
-Walnuts
-Protein bars
-Whey protein
-Citric acid
-Cucumbers
-Tomatoes
-Phosphoric acid***

*** He said that the injection was a phosphate compound, but I'm not sure if that's the same as PHOSPHORIC ACID.

I should also mention that probably 10 of the things on that list I've only become allergic to within the last 6 months to a year, so I'm sure there are many other things that I have just not tried yet that I am also allergic to. With the exception of tomatoes, I have breathing trouble, chest tightness and pain, and swelling of the throat and mouth with all of those things I've listed.

As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm very nervous about having anything of this sort injected into my body... especially where they send you home for a few hours. I'm not taking any precautions or taking Benadryl (because I'll fall asleep) or Prednisone (I've taken it so many times for other illnesses that I'm afraid I'll start developing odd body hair or other side effects) before hand either.

What should I do? Or more importantly, if it were you, what would you do? Thank you if you can help!
