this is actually my problem.. no Dr or even myself even suspected a sinus infection until a CT scan showed my cheek bone sinuses were really infected. have you had a CT scan? that would help explain a lot.

How are you dealing with your infection? I have been on 4 different kinds of antibiotics (Levaquin, Ketek, Ceftin and Omnicef) they haven’t been able to clear the left maxillary infection, the nasal congestion is driving me crazy.

Thank you.

I actually took Omnicef... which I thought was helping me. Upon inital exam, drs saw nothing, even in an endoscopy. But a CT scan while on it showed infection in both my right and left cheekbone sinuses. I guess it was bad they didn't see anything because it meant nothing was draining. So my ENT put me on a prednisone burst, starting at 40 mg, tapering down over 2 weeks, and a 3 week course of Augmentin XR. He told me this was the strongest antibiotic out there, and had me taking the strongest dose. I'm off of it now and see him again in a week for another CT scan. If there's still infection, he thinks it means the infection is antibiotic resistant and says i'll need surgery. I sure hope not! My mom caught the same thing, athough Tequin helped her, she went through Ketek and Ceftin with no help as well. It seems to be a drug resistant bug. The toughest part about this infection, is I don't feel sick anymore. Just run down and tired a lot, but i've also had a lot in the past 2 months so it doesnt strike me as odd. So I don't know if I still have the infection or not anymore becuase I can't feel it. I'm surprised they haven't suggested surgery if you are on the fourth round. I was surprised they suggested it for me.. I thought you go through months and months or years before they suggest such a thing.
