If the infection was resistant to the Cipro than 8 days of Levaquin is still not enough IMHO.
Don't fret about the fact you couldn't get the Ketek, you aren't missing anything. I was put on 10 days of it (usual dose is 5 days) and it didn't even touch my infection. I had to get switched to Ceftin which is working like a champ, but since I am still draining on my right side, I've just been given a refill for 2 more weeks.
My guess is your infection has been brewing up in your sinuses for quite awhile withut you knowing, and now it will take a little longer to cure it. I know for me, it is very difficult to tell the difference between infection and allergies until it has progressed to the point where it takes a massive amount of antibiotics to treat it.
