Zanaflex/Caprisoprodol/Soma for sciatica anyone? (Back Problems board)

30th March 2003
Hi,
I take both zanaflex and carisoprodol (Soma generic). The zanaflex works on chronic muscle spasms, and the soma is great for break-through muscle spasms/pain, or "regular" skeletal system spasms. Zanaflex helps with cerebral, neurological related spasms--there is no other drug in it's class, luckily there is a generic but it's still expensive. Zanaflex can cause elevated LFT's, that's why I can't just increase it--the soma makes up the difference.
Soma does tend to knock me out or make me drowsy if I haven't used it recently, but when used regularly, tolerance develops, with less side effects.
I've tried every muscle relaxer, for uncontrollable muscle spasms all over and Baclofen was milder but better than flexeril (which has the same ingredient as the antidepressant Elavil, so be careful combining the 2).
Hope this helped.
